Best Swimming Beaches on the Puget Sound:


  • Owen Beach in Point Defiance Park, Tacoma, is a popular spot recently renovated to enhance amenities while preserving its natural charm.
  • In Gig Harbor, Kopachuck State Park and Sunrise Beach Park offer picturesque beaches suitable for swimming, scuba diving, and various water activities.
  • Dash Point State Park, located on the border of Pierce and King Counties near Federal Way, offers expansive forests and scenic beaches ideal for swimming, kayaking, and paddle boarding.

Best Swimming Lakes in Pierce County


  • American Lake Park in Lakewood offers stunning views of Mt. Rainier alongside a popular swimming beach and a public boat launch.

Spanaway Lake Park, just south of Tacoma, features two swimming beaches, a boat launch, and a range of amenities, including trails and playgrounds.


  • Lake Tapps in Bonney Lake is a regional favorite. North Lake Tapps Park provides a sandy beach and ideal picnic spots.

Your beautifully curated list of what’s worth eating, seeing + doing around Washington. Jen is one of those people who creates the vibe.
